Book Reread: “What Happened to Goodbye”

Image

Naturally, when I have a lot to do (hello–I have to pack for turkey hunting on Thursday!), I lay down and read.

I tried to work on a query letter for an article pitch, but I soon shut the laptop and succumbed to the camo-comforter, and finished reading “What Happened to Goodbye,” for the upteenth time.

I love Sarah Dessen books (seriously, all of them). I’ve always dreamed of having a huge library in my house, but I’ve newly been set on getting rid of books I don’t think I’ll reread. It may take me a bit longer to grow my archives, but just imagine a place where any title can be pulled and opened to a spot at random (if, for some reason I didn’t feel like starting again at the beginning), and enjoyed.

I’m a chronic rereader, and proud.

Day 34: Worked on My Book

My biggest goal in life is to write a book.

I work at a book publishing company, so watching other people’s dreams come true while I procrastinate my own just isn’t going to cut it anymore.

So I made a goal with my “Uptown Writers” partner. I am going to write every day for the rest of the month. If I miss a day–just a single day–I will pay $50 to a charity.

It’s a great thing to do, yeah, but I’m unable to pay my rent on time this month. It’s something I can’t afford, therefore a great motivator.

And my book? Well, I’ve re-outlined three books, and I’ve started fresh.

My first lines read:

Oh my god. Did I just drool.

So, I’m pretty sure it’s going to rock.

Day 21: Had Dinner at Kramarcuk’s

Today my coworker and I went to Kramarcuk’s for some delicious grub after work.122_0124 Red Cabbage has got to be on my top ten favorite food list.122_0125The pyrohy’s were contenders for that list too. Why didn’t I order some to go? I could be eating in bed as I type this.

Oh and they have beer mugs for $3 when you order beer. What a steal! Especially when you need another beer mug (sigh/eye-roll).122_0126The food and service was superb (I will be back!). The trip to the restaurant–situated in downtown Minneapolis–was head-shake worthy (during the after-work rush hour), but it has a parking lot. So that was NICE.

Oh and look what else we came across. The cookbook our work published. We knew we heard about this place before…122_0127 Now if only I could reach into the picture and grab a jar of that nutella…122_0128

Day 6: Cuddled

Today was cold. It was also Cuddle Up Day, so how could I resist a night in a blanket burrito?ImageStep 1:  Something to nosh on.ImageStep 2: An activity that requires lounging.ImageStep 3: A cuddle buddy.ImageAnd Voila! You have a successful Cuddle Up Day!

And just to spare you, the movie we saw (“Crazy Kind of Love”), was no bueno. It was all “oh hey I’m a free spirited girl, I jump in puddles.” And then it was like “well hey free spirited girl, I’m a troubled boy.” Throw in a few subplots that fall as equally flat, and you have the movie. Meh. Meh. Meh.

Well, I’m still cold, and it’s not time for bed yet, so I think I’ll dive into the bed blankets, pick up my stuffed animal turkey, and end this special day by finishing my current novel, Wool.ImageStay warm people (in your heart too).Image
